Essential Oils are made from the plant not in a lab so are much more expensive than fragrances. The plant material is harvested and placed in a still, covered with water (that later becomes a hydrosol) and steamed, the oils are removed from the plant material by the steam and float to the top. The oils consist of  a very small part of the total, about 1%. For instance it takes 10,000 pounds of rose petals to make 1 pound of essential oil, that's why real rose oil (more of the most expensive oils in the world) can be as high as $5000-$10,000 a pound. Other oils are less expensive but still cost much more than any fragrance oil. Therefore, products that are made with essential oils are more expensive. Essential oils should be diluted to 5%with a carrier oil of some sort (usually fractionated coconut or jojoba for a stable shelf life) they are much too strong and can be toxic if used "straight". The exception to this is lavender and that can be used "straight".

Essential oils smell very much like the plant that it comes from and many have medicinal properties and many antioxidants. Skin Essentials uses only essential oils in our products. Fragrance oils don't feed the soul like essential oils do.

There are also many different grades of essential oils. Skin Essentials uses only Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils. They are much higher in quality and smell much better than the inexpensive essential oils.
