Sodium Ingredients

Many products contain sodium ingredients that dry out your skin. Here is a list of sodium ingredients and what they really are:



 

Acetates - salt of acetic acids (acetic acids are synthetic solvent for gums, resins and volatile oils. Occurs naturally in apples, cheese, cocoa and other foods. Synthetic form caused cancer in rats and mice when given orally or by injection.


 

Acrylates Copolymer - salts of Acrylic acid (used to make fake nails) used as a binder, film-former, hair fixative or suspending ingredient.


 

Cocomidorpropyl Betaine - salt of fatty acids antistatic, foam booster, thickener


 

Sodium Cocoate - saponified coconut oil (preserved)


 

Sodium Laureth Sulfate - sodium alcohol - used as a water softener, cleansing wetting ingredient and surfactant (makes product spread easier)


 

Sodium Palm Kernelate - saponified palm kernal oil


 

Sodium Stearate - slows soap from melting quickly in water, waterproofer for skin


 

Sodium Tallowate - saponified animal rendered fat (lard)


 

Tetrasodium EDTA - powdered sodium salt


 

Tetrasodium Etidronate - powered sodium salt
